Route of the Week - Old Town 

This trip through Old Town is sometimes used by our local Eastbourne Driving Test Centre examiners as part of the driving test. The key to driving this route successfully, is good anticipation and planning, especially when meeting traffic. From time to time, the examiners can adopt some variations across the route 

Please find below your basic turn-by-turn guide for the first of several routes used in this area.

Route Length - Approx 10 miles

Time - 30-40 minutes

• Start Point - Eastbourne Driving Test Centre - Wartling Road
• Turn right out of car park onto Wartling Road
• At the end of the road turn right
• At the roundabout take the 5th exit right onto Royal Parade
• Take the 4th road on the right onto Beach Road
• At the end of the road turn left onto Seaside
• Take the 5th road on the right onto Firle Road
• At the end of the road turn left onto Cavendish Avenue
• At the traffic lights follow the road ahead onto Ashford Road
• Bear left onto Susans Road
• Bear right onto Pevensey Road
• Follow the road ahead onto Lismore Road/Bolton Road
• At the roundabout take the 2nd exit left onto Devonshire Place
• Take the 1st road on the right onto Compton Street
• Follow the road ahead onto Silverdale Road
• At the end of the road turn right onto Meads Road
• Take the 3rd road on the left on to Saffrons Road
• At the end of the road turn right onto Dittons Road
• At the end of the road turn left onto Southfields Road
• At the end of the road turn left onto The Goffs
• Follow the road ahead onto High Street
• Take the 2nd turn on the right onto Green Street
• At the end of the road turn right onto Victoria Drive
• Take the 2nd road on the right on to Eldon Road
• Take the 1st road on the left onto Baldwin Avenue
• Take the 1st road on the right onto Stuart Avenue
• Follow the road ahead onto Cobbold Avenue
• At the end of the road turn left onto Upperton Road
• Take the 1st road on the right onto Beverington Road
• At the end of the road turn left onto Rodmill Drive
• At the roundabout take the 3rd exit following the road ahead onto Cross Levels Way
• At the roundabout take the 1st exit left onto Cross Levels Way
• At the roundabout take the 2nd exit following the road ahead onto Cross Levels Way
• At the roundabout take the 3rd exit right onto Lottbridge Drove
• At the roundabout take the 2nd exit following the road ahead onto Lottbridge Drove
• At the roundabout take the 2nd exit following the road ahead onto Lottbridge Drove
• At the roundabout take the 5th exit right and then the 1st road on the left onto Wartling Road
